Beach House are the Baltimore duo of Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally.
A devoted cult has sprung up around Beach House following their two
gorgeously dark dreampop albums, Beach House and Devotion- released in
New Zealand on Arch Hill Recordings.
Beach House’s live performances create an intense and otherworldy space
- with organs, slide guitars, reverb, harmony, layers, echoes and the
hazy, dreamlike magic of Victoria’s vocal melodies. New Zealand will
also be treated with the addition of drummer and percussionist Dave
Bergander, of Baltimore art-rockers Celebration.
Beach House are also joined in Auckland by Osaka born Tujiko Noriko.
A prolific avant-pop, experimental musician (often compared to múm, or
Björk), she has released 11 albums and 2 short films since her
boyfriend bought her a keyboard in 2003. The latest of her 11 albums
entitled ‘Trust’ was released in March on Japanese Nature Bliss Label.
To complete a must see bill is Bachelorette. Anabel Ankers is a
one-woman computer-pop symphony. Bachelorette’s aural trademarks are
dulcet melodic tones and art-pop-inspired dynamics. Her 2 releases The
End Of Things and Isolation Loops have wooed critics around the world
and she followed shortly after– Bachelorette has returned home fresh
from an American tour.
